The Routt name is everywhere in the Steamboat Springs, Colorado area: Routt County, Routt County Courthouse, Routt National Forest, Routt County Road, Routt County United Way, and even Routt County Woolens. Where did the name come from?

In the 2009 Holiday issue of Steamboat Magazine, Joyce describes the relationship between the area and the first Governor of the state of Colorado, John Long Routt.
