Pikes Peak Calling
From 1974 to 1992, Don and I lived in Colorado Springs. We owned and operated a typography and graphics business, the Letter Setters. Typesetting and darkroom equipment we used then are now as obsolete as the antiquated lead type replaced by our phototypesetter. Some things don’t change. I enjoy excuses to return to Pikes Peak Country, and recently attended three book events in the area. While Don builds a new computer and updates software, my learning curve is stretching like a sprung rubber band, while I format A Yellowstone Savage to republish as an ebook. This summer, I will visit the mountain towns of Georgetown, Estes Park, Fairplay, and Leadville. Look for me at Burro Days in Fairplay where I will share a booth with history author Christie Wright. In Leadville on Saturday, June 29, the National Mining Museum and Hall of Fame will host a special evening with Baby Doe Tabor, including a banquet, my presentation, and a mine shack visit, followed on Sunday by a mine tour and booksigning.
